Who are we repping?
In case you missed it, Myah and Tori were wearing some great jerseys in this month’s episode. Each episode, we will be repping a new sports icon and highlighting their turn in sports.
This month, Tori and Myah were repping two hockey icons, Kendall Coyne Schofield & Hilary Knight.
Her Turn continues to be inspired by trailblazers like Kendall & Hilary. We admire the effort and dedication needed to become the best in their craft during their turn, while also paving the way for a more equitable future in sports.
Learn more about both below!
Kendall Coyne Schofield
Kendall Coyne Schofield is considered “the fastest woman in hockey” after competing in the NHL All-Star Weekend Skills Competition in 2019. She has won 4 Olympic medals, 7 World Championships, 2 PWHL Walter Cup Championships, and countless individual recognitions throughout her hockey career. However, her role as a champion for the sport of hockey ranks far above them. For years, Kendall represented the USA on the Women’s National Hockey team at the highest level. And yet, she – and her teammates – didn’t have a professional league to play in when they returned home.
In 2024, Kendall and other leaders (like Billie Jean King, who we will learn about soon!) changed that by launching the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL). On top of that, Kendall was the first female coach hired in the NHL, co-founded a Family Foundation with her husband Michael Schofield, and is a best selling author!
Hilary Knight
Hilary Knight is a 2-time NCAA Champion with the University of Wisconsin, a 10-time World Champion with Team USA (the most ever!), and 5-time Olympic medalist. Off the ice, Hilary is a long-time advocate for women’s hockey and partners with various brands to bring awareness and breakdown barriers to participation in hockey. She serves on the executive committee of the PWHL’s Players Association and fights to protect player’s rights, compensation, working conditions, and voices in league decisions.
You can learn more about the historic PWHL league in the upcoming documentary set to release Feb. 16th!
